- how to voice chords
- structures and how to find your way around charts or lead sheet scores
- fundamentals of improvising using chords (vertical improvising) and how chose the right scales
- work to backing tracks to get the feeling of a live experience
Learn the basics of improvisation around ‘classical’ genres
- basic key signature related major and minor harmony
- left hand patterns to create particular styles – e.g. ostinato, waltz
- improvisation relative to chords and scales
- simple modulations and structures
- piece analysis to help inform potential improvisation routes
You will need a good 4-5 years of playing experience or be at a minimum of grade 5 (ABRSM or Trinity) to get the best from this form of tuition.
